In a major boost for skilled healthcare workers, Immigration, Refugees and Citizenship Canada (IRCC) has issued 4,000 Invitations to Apply (ITAs) in its most recent Express Entry draw focused on the Healthcare and Social Services Occupations category. This draw represents a significant opportunity for healthcare professionals aiming to secure Canadian permanent residence (PR) through the Express Entry system.

What Happened in the Latest Express Entry Draw?

  • Date of Draw: July 22, 2025

  • Category: Healthcare & Social Services Occupations

  • Number of ITAs Issued: 4,000

  • CRS Minimum Score: 475

  • Profile Submission Deadline: Profiles must have been created on or before 1:08 p.m. UTC on March 13, 2025.

This draw marks the fourth Express Entry invitation round in July 2025, following previous draws under the Provincial Nominee Program (PNP) on July 21 and July 7, as well as a Canadian Experience Class (CEC) draw on July 8. So far this year, IRCC has issued 49,403 ITAs through Express Entry, focusing heavily on PNP streams but also including category-based draws for healthcare, French-language proficiency, and other priority occupations.

Why This Healthcare Draw Matters

  1. Targeted Pathway for Healthcare Workers
Category‑based draws allow candidates in high‑need sectors—like nursing, medical laboratory technology, and personal support work—to receive invitations even if their Comprehensive Ranking System (CRS) score falls below general draw thresholds.

  2. Lowered CRS Requirement
A CRS cut‑off of 475 makes this draw accessible to a wider pool of qualified healthcare workers. Many skilled professionals who entered the Express Entry pool early can now capitalize on this opportunity.

  3. Fast‑Track to Permanent Residence
For healthcare professionals with at least six months of full-time, continuous work experience in eligible occupations, this draw offers a direct route to PR—even for those whose CRS scores are under 500.

Which Occupations Qualify?

To be eligible for the Healthcare and Social Services category draw, candidates must demonstrate:

  • At least six months of full‑time work experience (inside or outside Canada) in a designated occupation under the National Occupational Classification (NOC).

  • A valid Express Entry profile with a CRS score of 475 or higher before the March 13, 2025 profile cut‑off.

  • Licensed Practical Nurses (NOC 3233)
