Quick “How-to” for PSW Candidates (by employer & location)
Confirm the employer pathway first. It is very important to note that eligibility to sponsor and willingness of the company to sponsor are two different things. Applicants must ask the company about their sponsorship procedures before taking any offer.
-
-
Atlantic site? Aim AIP (Shannex, Hanwell if designated).
-
Ontario site? Aim OINP In-Demand Skills (BestCare, Gem Health Care ON).
-
Rural/francophone site? Aim RFIP/community program
-
Match your NOC and duties. Align your résumé to PSW/Home Support Worker duties and province wage thresholds.
Gather required proofs early. Language test (often CLB 4–5+), education, work references, job offer letter outlining wage/hours.
Check “designation/endorsement” status. For AIP/Rural programs, the employer/community must be designated/endorsed.
Use QuestJobs filters. Filter by pathway (AIP, OINP In-Demand, RFIP/rural) + province + employer to zero in on sponsor-ready postings.
The companies mentioned above were not consulted on their sponsorship procedures upon the writing of this article.
